Schreiner MediPharm, a specialist in functional labels for the pharmaceutical industry, has recently introduced its latest innovations in light protection for prefilled syringes containing photosensitive active ingredients such as biologics and biosimilars.
Light-sensitive drugs can have their efficacy and shelf life compromised by exposure to UV and blue light. To address this challenge, Schreiner MediPharm offers customized labeling solutions that ensure optimal protection while maintaining safety and usability.
The labels are available in three levels of protection. Level 1 provides effective UV protection with an integrated transparent inspection window. Level 2 extends this protection to blue light and includes a semi-transparent window for fill level verification. Level 3 offers maximum light protection with the option of an integrated resealable window for inspecting the syringe content in its original color.
Three types of labels cater to specific pharmaceutical needs. The Light-Protect-Label shields the syringe barrel from light exposure. The Syringe-Closure-Wrap Label provides full coverage of the syringe barrel and cap and features a first-opening indication system. The Cap-Lock Label, specifically developed for the SCHOTT TOPPACĀ® infuse syringe, ensures advanced light protection and a reliable first-opening indication.
Beyond light protection, these labels can incorporate graduations for precise dosing and documentation labels to enhance traceability. Compatible with COC and glass syringes, they are designed for application without heat exposure, ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical requirements.
With these new solutions, Schreiner MediPharm enables pharmaceutical companies to securely equip their prefilled syringes for light-sensitive substances while offering healthcare professionals a practical and reliable solution that enhances patient safety.
