A Deep Dive into Packaging Quality and Regulatory Landscape
New session format, thought-provoking Leader’s Talk by Andrea Zoppi (Global Quality Systems – Packaging & Labelling – Associate Director at Eli Lilly) captivated the audience at PHARMAP 2024. Zoppi’s presentation, titled “Packaging quality: relationship with authoritative rules and harmonising differences in QRM for drug product and devices,” delved into the critical interplay between packaging quality and regulatory requirements.
Sustainability Takes Center Stage
PHARMAP 2024 recognised the growing importance of sustainability in the pharmaceutical industry. A dedicated roundtable discussion, “Advancing Sustainability in the Pharmaceutical Industry,” featured thought leaders like Jürgen Bodenmüller (Director of Business Development at SÜDPACK Medica AG), Brett Marshall (Vice President – Quality & HSSE at Zuellig Pharma), Vitor Antunes (Regional Sales Director at Romaco), and Megi Erpardo(Sustainability Manager at Abdi İbrahim Pharmaceuticals). These experts explored various strategies for creating a more sustainable future for pharma, from adopting eco-friendly packaging solutions to optimising manufacturing processes.
Optimising Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Processes
Session 5 on “Pharmaceutical manufacturing process optimisation” showcased advancements in this critical area. Experts from Shimadzu Europa GmbH, Emerson, Zuellig Pharma and ARANOW INTERNATIONAL discussed innovative techniques such as Process Analytical Technology (PAT), flow health diagnostics, and automation solutions for microdosing and packaging.
Evolving Facility Design for the Future
The “Tomorrow’s Hub: Evolution in Facility Design” roundtable discussion explored the latest trends in pharmaceutical facility design. Jens Engstrand (Regional Business Development Manager TM Flooring EMEA at Sika Services AG – Corporate Construction), Hichem Chougui (Business Development manager at SPA PHARMA INVEST PRODUCTION), Mehdi Chehili (CEO at SPA PHARMA INVEST PRODUCTION), Maurice Janssen (Sr. specialist Real estate, Facility Management & Sustainability at Organon), and Eric Monrabal (Product Engineer at Getinge) shared their insights on cutting-edge approaches to designing and constructing pharmaceutical facilities that are not only efficient and compliant but also future-proof.
Interactive Engagement
A unique highlight of the Congress was the interactive activity by Bayer during one of the sessions, where attendees used a QR code to vote on the most pressing issues currently facing the industry. This valuable data will be compiled by Bayer to gain crucial insights.
Looking Ahead: PHARMAP 2025 in Berlin
PHARMAP 2025 will be held in Berlinon 14-15 April 2025, marking the congress’s fifth anniversary. Preparations for this landmark event are already underway, promising even more insightful discussions and groundbreaking revelations for the pharmaceutical industry.
