Sanner Group, a global leader in healthcare packaging and contract development and manufacturing (CDMO), has announced the acquisition of Gilero LLC, a North Carolina-based medical device design, development, and manufacturing firm. The acquisition is set to enhance Sanner’s capabilities across the drug delivery, diagnostics, and medical technology sectors, positioning it as a leading provider of comprehensive end-to-end services.
Founded in 2002, Gilero specializes in medical devices and drug delivery systems, offering services that span design, development, assembly, and manufacturing. With facilities in the US, Mexico, and Ireland, Gilero’s engineering teams will expand Sanner’s global footprint and provide localized support in key biopharma and medtech hubs.
Sanner’s CEO, Hans-Willem van Vliet, described the acquisition as a strategic fit for the company’s ambitions to grow its global reach in the medtech, diagnostics, and pharmaceutical sectors. “With Gilero on board, we expand our manufacturing capabilities in the US, providing greater support to our clients by addressing supply chain challenges and enhancing our ability to offer on-site production for our desiccant packaging solutions,” he said.
This acquisition follows Sanner’s purchase of Springboard Pro in 2023, which strengthened its offerings across the medical device development process. Gilero’s addition brings further manufacturing capacity, including expanded injection molding services, helping Sanner bolster its presence on both sides of the Atlantic.
Ted Mosler, Co-Founder and CEO of Gilero, highlighted the benefits for clients, pointing out that the combined expertise of the two companies would enhance global-scale manufacturing capabilities and provide greater support for pharmaceutical and medtech customers. He added, “Our customers will benefit from Sanner’s 130 years of industry leadership, along with our shared commitment to delivering comprehensive solutions from design to delivery.”
Sanner, known for its long-standing expertise in healthcare packaging, including desiccant packaging solutions, sees the acquisition of Gilero as a key part of its strategy to evolve into a major global player in the medical device CDMO market. The company now operates facilities across Europe, Asia, and North America, with the goal of offering seamless support to clients throughout the product lifecycle.
By integrating Gilero, Sanner is looking to enhance collaboration with partners and mitigate supply chain disruptions through localized services. The move also underscores Sanner’s commitment to expanding its services and strengthening its position in the healthcare packaging and medical device sectors on a global scale.
